"Ouroboros and the Unity of the Universe"

Digital Illustration ; 2026

The theme for the 2026 Rides and Tides as unity in action. The competition mentioned movement, individuality, and the constant equilibrium between opposites. I immediately thought of my favorite symbol, Ouroboros, and the philosophy of Trogoautoegocrat: reciprocal maintenance, and energy returning to it's origins. Much like waves, returning to the sea, or the sun dipping below the horizon once again, ouroboros eating itself represents the idea of unity, especially in action. When it happens in real life, and sometimes it does, the snake never stops moving, and can and sometimes will consume itself until it dies. A return of energy.I have also, behind the snake, included the lunar eclipse. What exemplifies unity in action better than two opposites coming together to be a beautiful phenomenon.And moreover, I chose blue to symbolize harmony and calmness, furthering the feeling of unity.Rides and Tides 2026 first place winner!

A commentary on online safety and sexual harassment/assault, specifically for women and young girls.
The sheep represents a victim of sexual abuse, and the wolf represents the perpetrator.
In this remaster, the sheep holds a dismembered wolf head; much like Pandora holding Pandora’s box, the sheep holds the key to her demise, making the sheep, like Pandora, a victim.
In this scenario, the sheep’s demise, or Pandora’s box, is the sexual abuser. Pandora is out of control of the motivations of the god’s box, and in my version, the sheep is out of control of the wolf’s intention, much like when a victim has no idea or control when interacting with an abuser, a groomer, or otherwise.TLDR: Had to create a master copy with a complementary color scheme, I ended up using a tetradic color scheme.

ABOUT KENNA FRANK

Kenna Frank is a current animation student at Savannah College of Art in Design (SCAD), based in Savannah Georgia, set to graduate in 2027. They hail from Denver, Colorado, hoping to move to the center of L.A. to pursue industry animation.She has had an interest in animation and artistic film since as long as she could remember, and now that she's old enough she's been more than ecstatic to pursue a degree in animation to, hopefully, join the crews behind the most beloved animated movies of both her childhood and her adult life.Kenna has a passion for not just animation, but also illustration and drawing, printmaking, and graphic design.

"TROGOAUTOEGOCRAT"

Student Digital Illustration ; 2025

“Trogoautoegocrat: depicts Ouroboros, and the cyclical nature of the Trogoautoegocrat philosophy, and how both creation and destruction are cut from the same cloth. I wanted to invoke intensity, and the versatility of red suited both the theme of the piece and the striking nature I was hoping to achieve. When creating this piece, I want the audience to feel emotionally connected to creation and destruction, and understand there can only be good when there is bad. Life is finite, while also being infinite, beyond us. I want the poster itself to be flat and striking, a nod to the illusion that life is flat and meaningless, when it is the opposite. I also wanted to hint at the importance of blood in many cultures, associated with the color red, and how blood can be related to both creation and destruction

DRAWING AND STILL LIFE

For drawing and still life, most of my skills come from my time here at SCAD. I had very little experience with drafting and still life up until fall quarter of freshman year; I have featured a couple of these works here as well. Some have emotional context and meaning to me, such as “Her Flower” and the first “untitled” charcoal and sanguine hands drawing. Both are representative of my experiences as a woman, and I’m very proud of them both. I haven’t had a lot of experience with drawing and still life, and I haven’t produced some of the most meaningful and beautiful work of my life at SCAD through this medium.

ILLUSTRATION AND DESIGN

Illustration and drawing have been a passion for as long as I can remember. I feel like I’ve drawn so much in my life, and the difference between my work before SCAD versus during has been…so obviously amazingly improved. I won’t even include stuff pre-SCAD because my heart just isn’t in them anymore, because I can see what I’m now capable of. How amazing it is!! I’m so lucky and so grateful for my opportunities here.I am proficient procreate, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and I’m a novice in CSP.

Custom Tarot Deck 2025

Personal Project ; 2025

Most of my illustration work that I’m excited to show is apart of the custom tarot deck that I made for my friend’s birthday in 2025; starting in June and ending in November to send to print, I spent every free second of my life devoted to illustrating 63 custom sized 5.5 in by 3.5 in tarot cards, a back design, custom rigid box design, and 48 page booklet. I am absolutely delighted to share this project, as I’ve gotten lots of advice and critique for months up to the completion of the deck. In the video, all 78 tarot cards are depicted. I have featured my favorite few below, for brevity.

Mr ms mx spice!! My name is Kenna frank and I am an illustrator and novice animator hailing from Denver, Colorado. I am studying character animation at SCAD and have a decently fleshed out portfolio. STORYBOARDS

Collaboration between Fio Rizvi and myself. Concept was created by both of us: I did storyboard thumbnails, backgrounds, character design, and the shark character in the boards.

This process was almost completely improv-ed on the spot and the styles were drawn by each respective artist :3Logline: 2 students, freshly in school for the day imagines the tiktok scenario: crocodile versus shark.

OMG Fio came up to me during this class and now we're besties. They're very funny and interesting but most importantly they came up to ME which was a great selling point because I'm so always cool about doing my own thing. With that being said, they had a great idea for this like dark sapphic romance thing based on the Barbie Fairytopia series.Logline: To be loved is to be changed; what happens when 2 forever enemies eyes open for the first time...
